Who ever heard of Reba Shimansky?
Fri Jun 06, 2008 at 02:21:40 PM PDT
In a new posting on The Page, Mark Halperin has a statement from a lady named Reba Shimansky. Reba is apparently from Brooklyn, New York and is well know for being a fiercely partisan Democrat who writes hundreds upon hundreds of letters to various publications and calling in to many talk programs to argue the Democratic viewpoint.
Her statement given to Mark Halperin follows, after the jump:
John McCain: Standing Ovation at AIPAC... (w/ poll)
Mon Jun 02, 2008 at 11:11:38 AM PDT
I was reading the Huffington Post this morning, and saw an article that admittedly shook me a little bit.
Seth Colter Walls posted this piece, titled "McCain's Attack On Obama Gets Standing Ovation At AIPAC". In it, he recounts how John McCain's full-bore attack on Barack Obama got cheers and a convention-wide standing ovation.
Am I right to be a bit worried by this?
If You Need a Laugh
Tue May 27, 2008 at 09:21:49 AM PDT
Sometimes, we all need to have a good, hearty laugh.
Once in a while, someone is kind enough to unintentionally give us the joy of laughter. This can be a precious gift indeed.
With that, enter fervent Hillary supporter Jill Iscoll.
Shorter Hillary Op-Ed
Sun May 25, 2008 at 10:54:14 AM PDT
For those of you who may not want to read the whole Hillary Clinton op-ed in the NY Daily News today, this being Memorial Day weekend and all, I thought I might summarize it for you.
Shorter Hillary op-ed over the jump.
MI & FL: What do YOU think is fair?
Fri May 23, 2008 at 09:17:22 AM PDT
Since the May 31 meeting of the DNC Rules Committee is approaching, I thought maybe it would be interesting to pick the brains of everyone here and see what you think is an appropriate solution for the problem of Michigan and Florida.
I'll get the conversation started over the jump...
Al Giordano (The Field) Explains Hillary's Behavior
Thu May 22, 2008 at 10:54:08 AM PDT
One of the best blogs, in my opinion, for following the primaries has been Al Giordano's The Field. He has actually himself traveled to many primary states and done some fantastic on the ground reporting, as well as some interesting analysis and primary predictions.
A Funny addendum to "Appeasement"
Wed May 21, 2008 at 08:27:39 AM PDT
Remember Bush's speech to the Israeli Knesset a few days ago, where he implicitly blasted Barack Obama for his willingness to talk to America's enemies?
Well, Newsweek has a new article up today that puts that speech in a somewhat amusing light, considering where it was delivered...
Character vs. Issues: Why not make 2008 about character?
Tue May 20, 2008 at 02:47:47 PM PDT
Time and time again, we see in national polls that more Americans agree with Democrats than with Republicans on key issues that face the country today. Iraq, health care, the economy, education, and so on. In fact, there are relatively few issues where the progressive position is largely out of step with majority American opinion, for example the death penalty or gay marriage.
So Democrats see this, and they decide to stick to the issues. Republicans see this, and decide that they need to make the election about something, anything else if they want to have a prayer. Thus, character issues.
We saw this process happen in 2000 and 2004, and we know what the result was. My question to you is: why aren't we giving the Republicans a taste of their own medicine?
This is why Republicans will win in November
Mon May 19, 2008 at 11:12:12 AM PDT
A few days ago, on the GOP blog The Everyday Republican, the Chairman of the Connecticut Republican Party Chris Healy posted a stirring call to arms to rally his fellow doughy warriors in the fight to retain the White House in 2008. His post was entitled "Enough Already: Shut up and Suit Up".
What follows will be a completely serious and sober analysis of this historic and moving Republican Manifesto. I hope that by this clear-eyed analysis, we can prepare ourselves for the great challenge that faces us in November.

Thoughts on Gender and the Clinton Campaign
Sun May 18, 2008 at 12:58:53 PM PDT
The recent diary posted by another member here has got me to thinking about the larger issue of gender in the presidential campaign.
Of course, with the early favorite for the nomination being a woman and a former First Lady to boot, it was inevitable that issues of gender would come to the forefront in this presidential campaign, just like Barack Obama's entrance ensured that the issue of race would eventually raise its head as well.
Here at the end of the primaries, as the Clinton campaign prepares to celebrate its last hurrah in Kentucky before Obama becomes the de facto nominee, I want to give some of my thoughts on the Clinton campaign and gender, and how the former failed in my view to make the best use of the latter.
An Introduction, from an ex-repub

Hello Kossacks, I'm a new guy here. I've visited DailyKos since probably late 2006, but never registered to become part of the DailyKos community until about a week ago.
This is my first diary, and since a community is all about sharing, I thought I would use my first diary to share how I got here.
Over the jump we go!
